Hello

Today...........

I picked up a book in Morelli's, they do a fab book share thingy you know the sort of thing, you take your unwanted books in.....and take away someone elses unwanted books. (except, as I find it hard to part with ANY of my books I suppose I just nick other peoples unwanted books, as I mean to take mine in but somehow never manage too!) Anyway, today along with my coffee I picked up a vegetarian cookbook. I've just got around to having flick through and found this written on the first page.

"To Anna
My most wonderful
most lovely
most gorgeous
most everything
in the whole
world

All my love
always

Simon xx

It actually made me feel a little bit sad :( What happened to Anna and Simon? Why did she give the book with this wonderful inscription away? Did she forget, give it away, then remember and rush to get it back....and it wasn't there because I had kind of nicked it? Or did they have an awful acrimonious break up, so bad she felt the need to banish all remnants of the once romantic Simon from her life? OR, have Anna and Simon moved to a delapidated old barn in a gorgeous part of France and are currently living in a caravan whilst doing said barn up....and have no room for surplus books. Maybe Simon has written hundreds of romantic inscriptions in books over the years and Anna is sick to the back teeth with them? Simon might be a complete pig most of the time and only write over enthusiastically romantic gestures once in a blue moon, trying to redeem himself.
Maybe I need to put a sign up in Morelli's........

"LOST
Anna and Simon
If anyone knows the whereabouts of the above, please contact me....I am an incurable, nosy bugger and NEED to know the story behind this book!"

OR maybe I'll use it as an idea for a book and it'll become a bestseller, and in interviews, when asked where the idea for the book came from, it'll be a fabulous answer!

xx

Our little cinema..........

I think it seats about 50 at the most:)

Seagull footprints..................

All week a guy and his digger have been building the sea defense wall, we have quite a few freak high tides and this wall protects the beach huts etc during winter and spring........

Really feels like Autumn today.............

I donned my fluffy socks and my snuggly jumper and off we went on our usual walk (obviously I also had jeans and converse on too....socks and jumper alone would be just weird....not to mention cold.....and probably illegal) the beach is at the end of my road, a minute away from my house......

The reason my desk NEVER stays tidy.........

Ralph

Pretty handmade buttons, vintage fabric :)

Hahahahaha...."Rita Moore struck another posture"......

I found this fabulous book today in a local shop............

Ok, so looks like Autumn is finally here. Got up this morning ,flung open the windows as usual.....shut 'em again. It was so cold! I actually had a proper snuggly jumper on when I walked along the seafront this morning.
There's a digger on the beach building the sand into a sea defense shape, always a sure sign the summer season is over and winter is on it's way and the seafront is deserted apart from us locals who, like me, always have to have a look at the sea before we start our day.
Broadstairs is given back to the locals again....woo hoo!
I do love to see how busy the town is in summer, and love the fairs, the bands at the Bandstand, Folk Week and the strange little junk fairs that randomly spring up in Balmoral Gardens throughout the season, but oh it is lovely to walk along the seafront and around town without having to negotiate holiday makers that stop dead in front of you without any warning......

best film..........

for raining afternoons, a snuggly, duvet,pj's,hot chocholate and cupcakes kind of film :)

Have no idea what this was.....but I like it......think it was a interactive thingy (technical term obviously)

Not a very good pic but, really? is this possible? Scary prospect!! :O

An actual Mick Jagger outfit....he was tiny....talk about snake hips, Blimey!

Loved this poster.......

I was ridiculously pleased to see this Adam Ant outfit, worn by the man himself in the video......

"Prince Charming!" "Prince Charming!"

(Throws arm dramatically if front of face whilst stepping dramatically forwards)

Pete...yep we really did name him...the one legged pigeon who took a liking to us, or maybe it was the cake he was after. Despite Pete only having one leg,he was possibly the best groomed pigeon I have ever seen. Maybe they audition them before they allowed in....only classy pigeons need apply?

Last weekend......

we 'did' the museums, and discovered that 3 in one day was a little ambitious! We did however have a fabulous day despite it being hotter than Naples......in a nutshell I would say that the V&A was awe inspiring, a calm oasis amongst the madness of London. It was my personal favourite, the garden cafe with the lake and beautiful trees was a stunning and peaceful place for a restorative cup of tea....they do amazing cakes too.(the exhibits were pretty marvellous too!)
The Natural History was just as I remembered it as a child, the same dinosaur, blue whale and giraffe were in situ.....felt a bit like deja vue....it was a bit of a shock to the system after the calm 'grownupness' of the V&A. And are there really that many kids in the world? Seemed like they were ALL in there :)
The Science Museum next, the main Exhibition was 'SEX'......we saw more than a few disconcerted looking parents sidestepping awkward questions with "erm, we'll talk about that later".....and one or two "ask your mother". Especially centered around the machine that asked you to "press the button to find the sperm that wins the race" complete with a, graphic, bigger than lifesize vagina! Made me glad my kids are so much older....!
Soooo here's a few pics of our day..............

First, the garden at the V&A............up there on the left!

Everlong Acoustic

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, I've always been fascinated by this super cool pair. They have such style, love and passion...........

Stuff

I like 'stuff'. After years of trying to organize,de-clutter,downsize,minimilise.....or just plain chuck stuff out! I have come to the conclusion that it's never gonna happen.I don't just like any old 'stuff' and I'm very picky and selective, I've no 'must haves' of any particular style, but if I like it, I like it.
So me and my 'stuff' have made peace with each other and this blog is aimed at showing it off :)
Oh and not content with picking up 'stuff' out and about....I also make my own 'stuff' too, the padded heart in the post above is a brooch (or is it broach...doesn't look right) I made with vintage fabric.
